Chinese Vice-President Meets the President of Malawi and the President of Zanzibar in Tanzania

On Wednesday, Han Zheng, Chinese vice-president, met the president of Malawi, Lazarus Chakwera, and the president of Zanzibar in Tanzania, Hussein Ali Mwinyi, in Changsha, in the Chinese province of Hunan to attend the third China-Africa Economic and Trade Fair.

During his meeting with Mr. Chakwera, Mr. Han said that China and Malawi were development partners who supported and trusted each other and that relations between China and Malawi had enjoyed healthy, stable, and lasting development with fruitful cooperation, under the aegis of the Heads of State of the two countries.

Thus, Mr. Han announced that China supports Malawi in its independent exploration of a development path suited to its national conditions and is willing to work with Malawi to continuously consolidate mutual political trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation, and jointly raise the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries to a higher level.

Malawian companies are invited to actively use the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and other platforms to deepen bilateral economic and trade cooperation, he added.

Mr. Chakwera thanked China for its strong support for economic development and for improving the livelihoods of the people of his country. Malawi attaches great importance to the development of its relations with China, firmly adheres to the One China policy, and is ready to engage in exchanges with China on national governance and strengthening pragmatic cooperation in various fields.

During his meeting with Mr. Mwinyi, Mr. Han said that China and Tanzania were good friends, brothers, and partners. The friendly cooperation between China and Zanzibar is an important part of China-Tanzania relations.
