The Moroccan Embassy co-organises the first Conakry Contemporary Art Fair #224ArtFair

The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Guinea has co-organised with the Villa des Arts in Conakry, in partnership with the Franco-Guinean cultural centre CCFG and the Al-Maqam artistic residence, the first Conakry Contemporary Art Fair #224ArtFair, from 15 to 18 June, bringing together 30 artists from Guinea, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco.
The aim of this first contemporary art fair is to promote African culture and art in all its diversity, and to provide a forum for exchange and sharing between the continent’s leading artists and young Guinean talent.
The opening ceremony of this unique cultural event was attended by Mr Isam Taib, Ambassador of His Majesty the King in Guinea, the Guinean Minister of Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts, Mr Alpha Soumah and the Guinean Minister of Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts, Mr Alpha Soumah. Alpha Soumah and the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Mrs Diaka Sidibé, as well as the diplomatic corps accredited in Conakry, and a large audience who came to witness this magical assortment of African visual arts, according to a press release from the embassy.
On this occasion, the Moroccan Ambassador to Conakry emphasised the pan-African nature of #224ArtFair, which seeks to be a platform for promoting African culture and art, a priority for the Kingdom, in accordance with the Very High Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, the statement said.
Mr Taib also highlighted the participation of young Guinean students from the Mory Kante School of Fine Arts, from among whom the best young talent will be chosen and offered a stay at the Al Maqam artistic residence in Marrakech.
