As the Western Cape braces for additional rainfall, the Department of Water and Sanitation has issued a warning, advising residents to refrain from engaging in recreational activities near water systems. The province has already experienced catastrophic floods, resulting in the displacement of numerous residents and isolating two communities from the rest of the region.

The department emphasized the perilous conditions, highlighting the overflow of many dams and rivers, which poses a significant risk to residents. While the recent rain has contributed to a notable increase in dam levels, it has also caused extensive devastation in various communities.

Tragically, the storms have claimed the lives of two individuals thus far. With the anticipation of further rainfall throughout the week, the department remains vigilant, closely monitoring the situation and its potential impact on the region.
