An attack described as “terrorist” in Uganda took place early on Saturday morning in Uganda, near the border with North Kivu in the DRC. “All the dead” are “school students,” said Joe Walusimbi, the district commissioner for Kasese, where the school is located.

The army and the police followed in the footsteps of the attackers on the Congolese side. The Ugandan police spokesperson points to the Allied Democratic Forces, the ADF for the English acronym, which is officially affiliated with the Islamic State group. Eight victims of the attack were rescued and transported to Bwera town hospital.

Eight injured people were also found and are still in critical condition at Bwera Hospital. Several students are still missing, said district commissioner Joe Walusimbi.

The army and the police pursue the attackers who fled in the direction of the national park of Virunga, located on the other side of the border, in DR Congo, where the ADF is.
