The Gulf Cooperation Council Stands in Solidarity with Morocco on the Sahara Issue

In a statement during the annual meeting of the 24th Committee of the United Nations, the Gulf Cooperation Council states reaffirmed their unwavering support for the Moroccanness of the Sahara and the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

In the statement read out by the representative of the Sultanate of Oman on behalf of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the GCC countries stressed the importance of the special strategic partnership between the Cooperation Council and the Kingdom of Morocco, the implementation of the joint action plan, and the positions of the Council Cooperation and its firm decisions in support of the Moroccanness of the Sahara, and the preservation of the security and stability of the Kingdom of Morocco and its territorial integrity.

In this context, the Council commended the recent resolutions of the United Nations Security Council regarding the Moroccan Sahara.

The countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf also expressed their support for all efforts made by Morocco and the international community to reach a political solution to this regional dispute, recalling the importance of wisdom, realism, and a spirit of compromise on the part of all concerned parties.
