During a visit to the International Academy against Terrorism (AILCT) last Friday, the President of the Ivorian Senate, Jeannot Ahoussou-Kouadio, called for the fight against terrorist propaganda on the internet.

Mr Ahoussou-Kouadio advised that it is essential to combat terrorist propaganda on the internet, which is based on misinformation and targets young people in particular.

In an ultra-connected world where digital communication tools spread hatred, prevention remains the best response to terrorism, violent extremism and other threats to peace and security.

Mr Ahoussou-Kouadio expressed the satisfaction of the members of his institution at the establishment of the International Academy for Combating Terrorism in Jacqueville, praising the President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara, for his vision and the people behind it.

Likewise, Mr Ahoussou-Kouadio conveyed the Senators’ congratulations to the academy team for its professionalism, encouraging it to continue its efforts to train men and women who are resolutely committed to ensuring the security of goods and people in our respective States.

Inaugurated on 10 June 2021, the AILCT, at a cost of 42 billion CFA francs, has already trained 1,000 students.
