Aircraft from the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and the American Armed Forces took part in airdrop exercises on Saturday, at the Benguerir military base, as part of the 19th edition of the “African Lion” exercise.

In pursuit of their assigned mission, aircraft from the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and the American Armed Forces carried out a series of mass airdrop operations over the drop zone, along with a ground manoeuvre aimed at achieving the mission entrusted to them.

Commander Mohamed El Kouiti, from the 2nd Parachute Infantry Brigade at the Benguerir military base, told the press that paratroopers from the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and the American Armed Forces had carried out an airdrop exercise, with the aim of strengthening the operational interoperability of the two countries’ paratroopers and promoting their joint action.

In the same context, Mr El Kouiti explained that during this collective airdrop operation, the military officers of the two armies conducted a tactical exercise, demonstrating their ability to carry out a wide range of joint manoeuvres.

Lieutenant-Colonel John Staeheli, Battalion Commander of the US Army’s Southern European Task Force Africa (SETAF), said that this combined joint operation brought together 240 Moroccan and American paratroopers.

“African Lion”, which will continue until 16 June in seven regions of Morocco, is a combined joint exercise organised each year by the Royal Armed Forces and the US Armed Forces.
