Following a power outage at City Power’s Orlando power station, which disrupted both Rand Water and Johannesburg Water infrastructure, water supply to various parts of Johannesburg, including Randburg, Roodepoort, and Soweto, was severely impacted. However, efforts are underway to restore water to the affected areas.

On Thursday, the power outage at City Power’s Orlando power station had far-reaching consequences, causing disruptions in the water supply infrastructure operated by Rand Water and Johannesburg Water. This resulted in residents of several Johannesburg areas experiencing water shortages.

Fortunately, on Friday, Joburg Water announced that the Eikenhof pump station, which was affected by the power outage, had been fully restored and was operational again. The pump station immediately began the process of replenishing the affected reservoirs. Despite the progress made, some areas may still experience temporary water shortages as the system stabilizes.

Nombuso Shabalala, the spokesperson for Joburg Water, reassured residents that normal water supply would gradually return as systems recover. However, she emphasized that patience would be necessary as the restoration process may take some time to reach all affected areas.
