In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the lawyers of opposition politician Salomon SK Della, arrested on 30th May 2023, have stated that the military intelligence service prevented them from meeting the convicted politician on 1st June.
One of his lawyers, Mr. Christian Nkoy, added that “it is impossible to know the charges against him” without meeting him, denouncing a “violation of procedure and of the Constitution”.
Advocate Christian Nkoy pointed out that “Salomon SK Della Kalonda was arrested and immediately taken to the military intelligence service”.
About the fact that they were prevented from meeting Salomon SK Della, Christian Nkoy considered this to be a violation of the Constitution, explaining that “the Constitution states that any person subject to trial, or any person arrested by the justice system, security services or others, must immediately be in contact with his family and/or his lawyers”.
It should be remembered that Salomon SK Della, a close associate of opposition figure Moïse Katumbi, was arrested on 30th May 2023 in Kinshasa as he was preparing to leave the capital. The reasons for his arrest have not been made public by the authorities.
