US and Morocco Discuss Regional Developments and Strengthening Economic and Security Partnership

In a press release issued on May 14th, the United States Department of State announced that Antony Blinken held talks on Sunday with Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita.

The deliberations centered on assessing regional and global developments, underscoring the ongoing commitment to fortify the economic and security alliance between the United States and Morocco.

Antony Blinken, the Secretary of State, expressed admiration for King Mohammed VI’s contributions to fostering regional peace and acknowledged his leadership in advancing a secure and prosperous future for both Israelis and Palestinians.

The two diplomats also discussed the significance of the Negev Forum. They further emphasized the importance of full adherence to the recent ceasefire in Israel and Gaza.

Among other topics addressed, the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254 about the Syrian conflict was mentioned.

Lastly, Blinken expressed the United States full support for the UN Special Envoy, Secretary-General Staffan de Mistura, in achieving a lasting and dignified political solution for the people of Sahara and the region.
