The Moroccan series “Bghit Hyatek” by its director Chaouki El Oufir won the “best short series” and “best scenario” awards at the first edition of the Pan-African Festival “Dakar Séries”.

This Festival was held in Dakar from 3 to 6 May, with the participation of several countries including Morocco.

Indeed, Morocco was represented in the official competition (short series) by “Bghit Hyatek”, which was broadcast on the television channel 2M.

The series tells the story of three women, Basma, Wafae and Siham. Each of them leads a different life and seeks to achieve their dreams by capturing the happiness of other women.

The series “Bghit Hyatek” also won the “Best Script” award, written by Samia Akariou, Nora Skalli and Jawad Lahlou, and awarded by the jury of this Festival.

Thus, the award ceremony took place on Saturday evening in Dakar to close this first edition.

In addition to Morocco, the competition included films from Cameroon, Togo, Benin, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Central Africa and South Africa.

According to the organisers, one of the objectives of “Dakar Séries” is to make the Senegalese capital the gathering place for creators of African television series, while creating a unique platform for audiovisual professionals.
