The captivating Moroccan television series, “Bghit Hyatek” (I want your Life), has garnered widespread acclaim and attention from numerous esteemed Moroccan and international festivals. Most recently, the series was showcased at the inaugural African Television Series Festival in Dakar, Senegal, alongside other notable productions from various African countries, including Morocco. This serves as a testament to the widespread appeal and success of the show, which has captivated audiences both locally and abroad.
In a statement to “WeAfrica 24”, the artist Mariam Al-Zaimi expressed her great joy with the participation of the series “Bghit Hyatek” in this festival, praising that it is an important opportunity that calls for the pride of Moroccan dramas and productions, which have become a fierce competition between various international works.
The artist added that The series “Bghit Hyatek” is considered one of the most successful Moroccan productions of this year, due to several advantages, including the hard work and the successful selection of actors who played all the characters. Each actor has his place in the story, besides the poetic direction which has increased the aesthetics of the series to high levels, so I think the series deserves success and the biggest awards.
Maryam Al-Zaimi played the character “Sarah” in this series, with whom Moroccans sympathized on a large scale, and many admired the artist’s skill and her wonderful embodiment of this character.
The artist yearns to portray the character in “Bghit Hyatek” in another Arabic dialect, as many Moroccan productions have been adapted into the Syrian dialect. However, her response was, “My preference is to promote the authenticity of Moroccan art. I firmly believe that translating the series would inevitably result in the loss of its original essence, including the nuanced movements, details, and emotions that define the show. For this reason, I would rather it be experienced in its native dialect, to preserve the integrity of its message.”
The artist expressed a firm commitment to showcasing Moroccan productions on television screens throughout the Arab world. She emphasized the importance of preserving the authenticity of the Moroccan dialect, which resonates deeply with local audiences. Despite the prevalence of Lebanese and Syrian productions, which Moroccans have grown accustomed to in their native dialect, the artist believes that the Moroccan dialect is equally accessible to audiences across the region. In her view, just as Moroccans have learned to appreciate the dialects of other Arabic-speaking countries, so too can audiences be exposed to and embrace the unique flavor of the Moroccan dialect.
