In Togo, the Association of Victims of Torture (ASVITTO) welcomes a project to build 950 productive boreholes in the Savanes and Kara region but regrets that this contract was awarded to only two companies, ” with risks of embezzlement”, according to the president of ASVITTO.

The Association of Victims of Torture (ASVITTO) welcomes the authorities’ “awareness” in a press release published on April 19th, 2023. ASVITTO welcomes the project to build 950 productive boreholes in the Savanes and La Kara. Measures that should allow people to have drinking water.

ASVITTO recalls having alerted President Faure GnassingbĂ©, in December 2021, to the absence of the State in certain areas of the north of the country. She explains that the jihadists then exploited the lack of water, electricity, and roads to “extend their recruitment and their influence”.

These 950 future boreholes are therefore good news for ASVITTO. However, the organization regrets that the construction contract was only awarded to two companies.
