Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s visit to France, initially scheduled for May, has been postponed to June, without any official explanation from either side.

This postponement was mentioned during a phone call between the Algerian president and the French president Emmanuel Macron on the occasion of Eid el Fitr.

According to a statement from the Algerian presidency, the two presidents also discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them, during this telephone conversation.

President Tebboune aims to concretize, through this visit, the “Declaration for a renewed partnership”, signed in August 2022, through the signing of a dozen agreements in several areas.

This visit will also be an opportunity to discuss the issue of memory, especially after the first long-distance meeting of the joint commission of French and Algerian historians, held on 19 April.
