The South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation has announced that the Sahara issue will be on the agenda of the meetings of BRICS deputy ministers and special envoys for the Middle East and North Africa, scheduled for 24-26 April in Cape Town.

The same source indicated that these meetings are part of a series of activities in preparation for the annual BRICS Heads of State Summit, which will be held in August in South Africa.

Other issues to be discussed at the meetings include the Middle East peace process and the latest developments in the Gulf States, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya and Yemen.

The South African news agency Sanews noted that the MENA region is now at a critical juncture in its history, as people struggle to meet the challenges of terrorism.
