Nigeria’s President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has tendered an apology to Nigerians who have been adversely affected by his administration’s policies as his tenure comes to a close in just 38 days. Buhari, who has served as a military governor, Minister of Petroleum Resources, and Head of State, expressed gratitude to the citizens for their patience during his eight-year tenure as President since May 29, 2015.

Buhari stated, “Those that think that I have hurt them so much, please pardon me,” during a farewell event at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he hosted a limited number of guests for the final Sallah homage.

Reflecting on his political career, Buhari acknowledged himself as a fortunate and fulfilled politician, having held various prominent positions. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunities given to him by God, including becoming President through technology and the Permanent Voter Card (PVC). He expressed his deep appreciation for the chance to serve as the country’s leader.

As he prepares for retirement, Buhari revealed his intention to take a break from party politics and distance himself from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), indicating a desire to step back from active political engagement.
