Clashes between the army and paramilitaries have continued since last Saturday, leaving nearly 300 civilians dead and 70% of Khartoum’s hospitals out of action.

After attempts at a ceasefire failed, Kenyan President William Ruto today expressed concern about the consequences of the fighting, which has targeted civilians and the diplomatic community alike, describing it as a violation of international and humanitarian law.

William Ruto added that the escalation in Sudan could be a threat to regional and international peace and security and involve other external actors.

He called for an end to arms in Sudan and Africa to enable the people to realize their aspirations of peace and tranquillity.
