Rwandan President Paul Kagame, who was accompanied by his wife and members of the Rwandan government, completed a state visit to Benin on Sunday.

This is the first state visit by a foreign head of state since the arrival of Patrice Talon in power.

The programme of the day on Saturday was sanctioned by a final communiqué and a press conference between the two presidents.

Exchanges and agreements between the two delegations focused on the following areas of cooperation: agriculture, digital, tourism, sustainable development and security.

The joint statement said that military cooperation should be strengthened, sharing expertise in the field.

President Talon indicated that the military cooperation between Benin and Rwanda could be reflected in the framework of the action the two countries for the benefit of Burkina Faso in terms of security.

This action can start with supervision, training and even joint deployment if the need arises.

It should be noted that the Beninese army has been working since mid-February to secure its border with Burkina Faso. Talon went to Ouagadougou to inform Captain Traoré.
