A video circulating on social networks, in which a man publicly calls for the assassination of the UN envoy in Khartoum, Volker Perthes, has worried the United Nations.

Concerned about this call for hatred and violence, the UN has urged the Sudanese authorities to open an investigation into the matter.

Florence Morice, RFI‘s correspondent in the region, said that the man in the video is called Adelmoneim and he filmed the video during a conference attended by leaders of various Sudanese Islamist parties.

Then, in the same video, the man accuses the UN envoy of having excluded certain factions from the ongoing discussions to get the democratic transition back on track.

The organizers of the conference distanced themselves from the man. However, they criticized the “negative role” of the UN in this process which would impose “an alien vision on the Sudanese people”.
