Kenyan President William Ruto on two-day Official Visit to Rwanda

On the program of this visit by the Kenyan President to Kigali, the signing of several bilateral agreements and a meeting with President Paul Kagame. During the press conference organized this Tuesday afternoon, April 4, the two Heads of State discussed the situation in eastern DRC.

Kenyan President William Ruto has highlighted that the critical issue of security in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is a collective concern of the region. Speaking in Kigali, Ruto emphasized that positive strides have been made in the past month, including the deployment of Burundian and Ugandan contingents as part of the East African force in North Kivu. This development is a significant step forward in restoring peace and stability to the troubled region.

At his side, President Paul Kagame also claimed to have noted progress in recent weeks. “I am hopeful that we can find a solution,” he said, adding that he hopes the outside world will support African leaders in their actions.

This is President William Ruto’s first visit to Kigali since his election last August. The meeting was also an opportunity to sign nine bilateral agreements between the two countries, particularly in the sectors of health, agriculture, new technologies, and development.

“The people of Rwanda and Kenya are united by a common vision of a more stable region. Pooling our resources means taking ownership of our development, being less dependent on the rest of the world,” the Rwandan presidency wrote on Twitter.
