DRC: 15 Dead in Ituri and more than 300 since December According to the UN

The security situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is deteriorating. According to the head of MONUSCO’s Ituri office, fifteen people have been killed in the last two days by two armed groups in Ituri, in the northeast of the country.

According to the UN, more than 300 civilians have been massacred since early December.

In Bahema Nord, the president of the civil society of the chieftaincy reported that the CODECO community militia killed 6 people and wounded several.

The militia is also accused of attacking the village of Drodro, in Djugu territory.

He said the village of Ng’le was not spared from the violence by the militiamen who allegedly killed three people on Thursday.

CODECO militiamen are also accused of killing about thirty people last Saturday in several villages in Ituri.

In addition, a humanitarian source revealed that the ADF rebels, affiliated with a jihadist group, are accused of killing 6 people on Thursday in the Irumu territory of the same province.
