A suicide bombing in southwestern Somalia on Tuesday left at least five people dead and 11 injured, including a governor.

The perpetrators of the attack have not yet been identified but suspicions revolve around the Shebab terrorist group, which regularly carries out such attacks in the country.

The police commander in this town in the Gedo region said that a vehicle loaded with explosives attacked a guest house in Bardera where government officials were staying, including the governor of Gedo, Ahmed Bulle Gared.

The Shebab rebels continue to perpetrate bloody attacks against the federal government and are generally based in rural areas.

Indeed, in 2022, two car bombs exploded in Mogadishu, killing 121 people and injuring 333.
