The White House announced today that US Vice President Kamala Harris will tour Africa in Ghana, Tanzania, and Zambia between late March and early April.

The tour is due to the US-Africa summit held in Washington in late 2022 when Joe Biden called for a broad partnership with Africa.

According to the statement, Harris is scheduled to meet with the presidents of the three countries to discuss regional and global priorities, the war in Ukraine, the US commitment to democracy, sustainable growth, and food security.

According to the White House, Kamala Harris will support “climate resilience and adaptation” in the region.

This African tour comes after First Lady Jill Biden visits the Horn of Africa in February, where she discussed the challenges of drought and food security.

This trip would be the first visit at this level since Barack Obama visited Kenya and Ethiopia in 2015.
