The pan-African magazine Jeune Afrique published an article on Sunday, in which Morocco’s potential in organising sports events and promoting athletes was highlighted as an African model of sports diplomacy.

The media noted that Morocco is particularly active in the field of football, while stressing that the Kingdom is the best African example in this field.

This was noted by Jean-Baptiste Guégan in his book “Geopolitics of Sport: another Explanation of the World”, saying that Morocco is a stable, tourist and safe country.

The media highlighted the efforts of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), which has established relations with 44 sub-Saharan African federations in various fields.

The author of the book analysed that Morocco can impose itself as a “key player” on the continent, if it bets on the quality of its infrastructures.

Jean-Baptiste Guégan recalled that Morocco organised the African Nations Championship in 2018, the women’s CAN in 2022 and will host the one in 2024. It is also aiming for the men’s CAN in 2025 and has presented its candidacy to organise the 2026 World Cup.
