Nurse Assaulted and Carjacked in Tshitatini, Limpopo

A nurse in Tshitatini outside Thohoyandou, Limpopo was viciously attacked and carjacked last Thursday, while she was driving her bakkie in the fields near Mutshindudi River at Tshififi, the 49-year-old woman was assaulted. She was subsequently discovered unconscious and severely beaten on the roadside, with her hands bound. Fortunately, a passerby found her and promptly alerted the authorities.

Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, a spokesperson for the Limpopo police, stated that emergency services and the police swiftly responded to the incident. The victim was promptly transported to the hospital, and preliminary investigations have been initiated.

Upon conducting investigations, it was determined that the victim had been forcefully taken from her vehicle and subjected to severe physical assault by unidentified culprits, subsequently rendering her unconscious and abandoning her by the roadside. Nonetheless, the suspects were eventually detained in Malamulule after a pursuit involving members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) from both Malamulule and Thohoyandou, facilitated by the assistance of a private trucking corporation.

During the pursuit, the automobile in which the suspects were traveling was overturned, resulting in the arrest of one of the suspects. The other accomplice sustained injuries during the incident. Regrettably, the third occupant, who remains unidentified, was pronounced deceased at the location of the occurrence.

It is anticipated that the two suspects will make an appearance at the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on the upcoming Monday, whereby they shall be arraigned on charges of carjacking, attempted murder, and the possession of a motor vehicle suspected to be stolen.
