Pierre-Henri Dumont, MP for Les Républicains (LR-right), denounced on Tuesday that the French policy aimed at “systematically undermining decades of friendship” with an essential partner like Morocco.

The deputy, who made this statement to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, during a session of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, added that Morocco is an important partner both in the Mediterranean and in Africa.

While questioning the head of the French diplomacy, the LR deputy described this crisis between Rabat and Paris as the worst diplomatic crisis between the two countries since the 1980s.

The MP regretted this open crisis with Morocco, “one of the most loyal and long-standing partners in Africa” and urged Colonna to act to regain a healthy and respectful relationship with Morocco, explaining that these tensions are not press rumors.

Dumont noted that LR MPs are particularly concerned about the fiasco of the policy pursued by the French president and his government in Africa.
