Five Moroccans were on an inflatable boat when it was seized by the Spanish Civil Guard. According to local media, it was traveling quickly toward Melilla’s Los Crabos beach.
Police agents arrested three Moroccan migrants, while the other two managed to flee to the city center of the Spanish enclave, it is reported.
According to the Spanish Interior Ministry’s official figures, “Until February 28, only three persons were able to reach Melilla by sea,” a fall of 31 percent over the same time last year.
As for the land route, “fifteen people managed to access Melilla, 42% less than last year,” it says.
