Rabat: Lahjomri Intervenes at the International Symposium on Orality in Africa

The Permanent Secretary of the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco, Abdeljalil Lahjomri, intervened on Wednesday in Rabat at the opening of the international symposium on the theme “Orality, a privileged register of interlocution or a screen for Africa?

He said that the African share in the trade of ideas is full and not marginal, stressing that the musical variations of this African share have given birth to musical genres such as jazz or blues and urban poetry styles.

For his part, Eugène Ebodé, administrator of the Chair of African Literature and Arts at the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco, stressed that “this symposium, which has a multicultural aspect, is an ideal opportunity to talk about the African force and the relationship it has with itself, particularly through various languages and cultures.

They paid tribute to the late Senegalese writer and filmmaker Sembéne Ousmane during the event, which marked the commemoration of the centenary of his birth.

This three-day international colloquium, initiated as part of the activities of the Chair of African Literature and Arts, aims to explore the intellectual wealth of Africa with a focus on oral literature.
