According to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday, Tinubu, who ran as a candidate for the All Progressives Congress, has emerged as the winner of Nigeria’s presidential election.

Tinubu secured 8.8 million votes, while his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, received 6.1 million votes.

His victory, with the required threshold of 25% of the votes in Nigeria’s 36 states and two-thirds of the capital, makes him the president of Africa’s largest democracy.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Wednesday that Bola, a member of the All Progressives Congress, has been declared the winner of Nigeria’s presidential election. The election was highly competitive, with many Nigerians seeking a leader capable of addressing the country’s increasing insecurity, economic woes, and rising poverty. Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos and political powerbroker, campaigned on his experience and pledged to restore hope to Africa’s largest economy. Although his past corruption allegations and association with the current president were questioned by some, supporters celebrated his victory with dancing and Afrobeats’ music. The Labour and PDP parties have called for the election to be nullified, but it remains to be seen whether they will take their case to court.
