On Tuesday, February 28th, a group of temporary doctors from universities, institutes, and grandes écoles in Mali organized a rally in front of the administrative city of Bamako. They also sent a letter to the president of the transition, Colonel Assimi Goïta, denouncing “corruption” and “nepotism” in recruitment processes.

“The fraud that there is currently in recruitment is unheard of,” says a Malian teacher-researcher. The collective of temporary doctors from universities, institutes, and grandes écoles in Mali deplores the opacity of the recruitment process and denounces irregularities and cases of favoritism.

Several researchers, including some who are members of this collective and others who teach at universities in the capital or in Ségou, have confided anonymously. Some claim to have received threats from their superiors, while others are simply afraid of expressing criticism in the current political context.
