Moroccan Justice Minister Abdellatif Wehbe, warned in the 52nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, held in Geneva, of the inhumane conditions of the Sahrawis detained in the Tindouf camps, which are under the control of the Polisario.

Wehbe said that the Sahrawis in Tindouf live in opposite conditions to those in the southern provinces of Morocco who participate in managing public affairs and enjoy all their rights.

In his speech, the minister stressed that the southern regions of Morocco are witnessing a development that benefits the population there in the economic and social fields.

Wehbe stressed that the authorities deprive detained Sahrawis of their rights of movement, expression, and assembly and that they also subject them to extrajudicial arbitrary arrests and executions.

Additionally, the Minister of Justice added that the Sahrawis of Tindouf also suffer from human trafficking while using their children, and from torture, enforced disappearance, and rape by the armed Polisario militia.

The minister renewed Morocco’s support for the political process led by the United Nations regarding the Sahara issue, and its commitment to the round table formula under the auspices of the United Nations, with the participation of all parties, to reach a viable and lasting political solution based on autonomy.
