The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad announced on Tuesday that the Africa Focus Group under the Global Coalition against Daesh or (ISIS) will convene a plenary meeting on March 1 and 2, 2023, in Niamey, Niger

This meeting, which is held in a context characterized by the alarming evolution of the terrorist threat in Africa, is co-chaired by Morocco, the United States, Italy, and Niger.

Morocco’s co-chairmanship of this meeting confirms its pioneering role in the fight against terrorism, as a provider of peace and stability in Africa, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

This meeting is a continuation of the first meeting of the Group in Africa hosted in Marrakech last May, in the framework of the ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition against Daesh, the statement said.

The objective of this meeting, which is a crucial step in international coordination in the fight against Daesh, is to provide concrete responses to the rise of terrorism in the continent.

The Africa Focus Group brings together a limited number of Coalition members committed to strengthening the fight against terrorism in Africa.
