Nigeria – on the evening of February 26, the vote counting for the Nigerian elections concluded. The Electoral Commission in Abuja will now collect the results from all local offices. They plan to resume the national-level collection at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. As we await clear results, it is important to remain patient during this uncertain time.

On Sunday, the Electoral Commission experienced delays in the election process, falling behind schedule. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postponed the start of the announcement of the first national election results from noon to late Sunday afternoon.

Finally, the results of only one state out of the 36 in Nigeria were revealed before the suspension of the collection which will resume this Monday morning: one of the smallest in their immense country. Ekiti State, in the southwest. In terms of electoral mass, this represents just over 1% of registered voters. According to the Electoral Commission, in this Yoruba territory, the candidate of the ruling party, the APC, Bola Tinubu, himself a Yoruba, comes first ahead of the opponent Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of the Labor Party. In the fourth position, is Rabiu Kwankwasso, of the NNPP.

Opponent Atiku Abubakar, whose sixth participation in a presidential election, called on the Electoral Commission to publish the results as soon as possible, believing that governors were trying to compromise the process at the local level. As for the Labor Party of Peter Obi, he accused the INEC of refusing to report the results of Lagos State and Delta, citing pressure from the ruling party.
