Dakar: The new president of AIPS-Africa calls for unity

After his election as the new president of the International Association of Sports Press (AIPS)-Africa, the Senegalese journalist, Abdoulaye Thiam called on the members of the association, during the 7th congress of the association, held from 23 to 25 February in Dakar, to unify their efforts to make the voice of Africa heard.

While welcoming the new dynamic that drives the African section and its members, the Senegalese journalist, who is also president of the National Association of the Sports Press (ANPS), stressed the importance that the AIPS strengthens its links with other African and world sports bodies to make the association more solid.

Similarly, Abdoulaye Thiam revealed his ambition to set up an African women’s commission, a commission of wise men and an independent ethics commission to accompany the work of the association.

Moreover, during this congress, Moroccan journalist Morad Moutaouakkil was re-elected on Saturday as 1st vice-president of the AIPS, Africa zone, a re-election that crowns the efforts made by the Moroccan representatives at the AIPS/Africa to further develop sports journalism in Africa, said Mr. Moutaouakkil.
