Experts stressed, on Thursday in Rabat, during a conference held under the theme “Food security, a factor of peace and stability”, that food and water security is an essential factor for maintaining peace and development in the world and in Africa.
In this context, the speakers emphasized the major challenges currently facing the world which jeopardize security and peace in the world.
Indeed, several factors have disrupted the global value chain and caused inflation and consequently food insecurity.
These challenges include the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, pandemics, climate change, and others. The most significant example is the food insecurity experienced by countries dependent on Russian or Ukrainian wheat.
Concerning the case of Morocco, the speakers returned to the problem of the shortage of water resources due to climate change, proposing that for the sustainable management of water resources in Morocco, it is necessary to invest in storage infrastructures and good governance.
This meeting was initiated by the Rotary Clubs of Rabat Doyen, Rabat Chellah, Rabat Excellence, Rabat Ennakhil, Salé Bab Lamrissa, and Casablanca Mers Sultan.
