On Friday, the Paris Criminal Court sentenced Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred to 6 years in prison, after he was convicted of sexually assaulting a young French woman in 2016, AFP reported.

A journalist on Radio France International “RFA” said that the court and the jury were convinced of the charges against Saad Lamjarred.

She added that the court convicted Lamjarred to 6 years in prison, noting that he has 10 days to appeal the verdict.

The President of the Court had given Lamjarred this morning the last opportunity to deliver his speech before the session was suspended for several hours to deliberate on the final decision.

Lamjarred repeated, in his last speech before the court, that he “still insists that he did not rape” the young woman (Laura), thanking the judge for listening to him.

It is noteworthy that the courtroom was filled to capacity at the moment the verdict was pronounced.
