Macron to start African visit from 1 March

French President Emmanuel Macron will start an African visit to four countries from 1 to 5 March. The aim of this visit is to strengthen ties with the countries of Central Africa. He will also participate in a summit on the protection of the equatorial forests.

Macron will start his visit to Gabon, where he will go on 1 and 2 March to participate in the One Forest Summit. This summit will focus on methods of preserving and developing the forests of the Congo River basin, which has 220 million hectares of forest.

The Congo Basin is the second largest forest area on the planet after the Amazon. These forests are scattered between Gabon, Congo-Brazzaville, and the DRC.) However, these forests are threatened by agricultural and industrial overexploitation.

Macron will then visit Brazzaville and Congo on 2 March and the Democratic Republic of Congo on 3 and 4 March.

His visit to Kinshasa aims to deepen cooperation in the fields of education, health, research, culture, and defense.

On 2 March, Macron will also visit Angola with the aim of launching a Franco-Angolan production partnership in agriculture.
