The South African Ministry of Health on Thursday recorded the death of one person from a cholera-related disease in more than 10 years.
The Ministry of Health has previously recorded five confirmed cases of cholera
The person who died had not previously traveled outside the country, which means that he was infected from within South Africa.
Contacts of the infected person who died are still in hospital and further investigations are underway.
Earlier this month, the country announced two imported cases, who came from Malawi with the disease.
