The Spanish Executive responded to the People’s Party in parliament, stating that Madrid expects Morocco to pay it at least two million euros annually for gas that has been traveling through the Maghreb Europe Gas Pipeline (GME) in the other direction from Spain to Morocco since last June.

As a reminder, Algiers had cut off the supply of gas circulating through the Maghreb gas pipeline, an installation going from Algeria, crossing Morocco, to end up arriving in Cadiz.

Faced with this situation, Morocco had decided to reverse the flows of GME, importing regasified gas from Spanish factories. No opposition had been issued by the Spanish government, thus allowing a flow of 1882 GH/hour, transferred until mid-January.

In its response to the deputies of the Spanish People’s Party, the Iberian government considers that if the current level of exports is maintained the annual invoicing, including tolls for access to transport networks, local networks, and re-gasification, should wait for the two million euros in the case of Morocco.

To this amount, it will also be necessary to add payments for the unloading of ships, the storage of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and the use of transport networks.

Spain specifies that these are the tariffs in force for this type of service, like what is applied to France and Portugal.
