Singer-songwriter, great singer, and kora player, Guinean musician Djéli Moussa Condé have just released his third solo album. “Africa Mama” is an acoustic album that signs a “return to the sources”, which tells about Africa.

Djeli Moussa Condé said that’s it… djeli is a griot. “This album, really, is Africa, it’s all my memories. I have been in Europe for more than thirty years but Africa is always by my side, always in my heart and that is why I wanted to make this acoustic album, to go back to the sources, to the country.”

The artist added that “there is this Africa that we miss, an Africa of heat, of dust, of all our children, of our landmarks. After 400 years of slavery, Africa has fallen a lot. She gets up, she falls with the looting of diamonds, gold, bauxite, industrial fishing… Africa is still standing, Africa watches over her children all the time. It is of this Africa that I speak.”

Furthermore, he said “Yes, I traveled with Ensemble Kotéba and then I stayed in Paris and the mess began. From 1993-94 until 95-96, I was outside. There was a time when I was caught and I ended up in prison. Every time I was sent to the airport.”

The artist mentioned before has been living in France for almost 30 years but he regularly returns to his country of birth, Guinea.
