On Saturday in Cairo, Morocco took part in the work of the 5th Conference of the Arab Parliament and Speakers of Arab Parliaments and Assemblies, held at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.

The Moroccan delegation was led by the first vice-president of the House of Representatives, Mohamed Sabari, and composed, among others, of the head of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) group in the House of Councillors, a member of the parliamentary caucus of the Arab Parliament and chairman of the Arab Committee for Food Security, Mohamed El Bakkoury.

This event is consecrated to the examination of a publication prepared by the Arab Parliament, entitled “A Parliamentary Vision for Strengthening Arab Food Security”.

On this occasion, the President of the Arab Parliament, Adel Al-Assoumi, said that this conference comes at a time when Arab nations face challenges, including food security, a major pillar of Arab national security.

For his part, the Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, recalled the responsibility of Arab parliaments to address issues that concern the Arab Nation as a whole and directly affect the lives of Arab citizens.
