The police continued their investigation on Thursday into the circumstances surrounding the death of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

This investigation follows the invitation extended to Mohbad’s family and the individuals mentioned in the ongoing probe of the illegal embalming of the deceased’s body after his demise.

According to reports, Boluwatife Adeyemo, also known as Darosha, who served as Mohbad’s Personal Assistant, was interrogated at the Zone 2 Police Headquarters in the presence of the deceased’s father, Joseph, and mother, Abosede.

Following Darosha’s interrogation, the police requested the presence of all individuals mentioned in his statement for further questioning. Monisola Odumosu, the head of the family’s legal team, conveyed in a statement that a second interrogatory meeting took place at the Zone 2 Police Headquarters in Lagos State on Tuesday.

Odumosu added that the police were working to uncover the identity of the “illegal mortician” involved in the embalming process.

“The police will soon disclose the identity of the individual who illegally embalmed the body of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad. They have stated that they will finalize their report and continue investigations, which will be directed to the Legal Department of the force for recommendations,” said Odumosu.

Present at the meeting were Mr. Joseph Aloba (Mohbad’s father), Boluwatife Adeyemi (aka Darosha), Adura Aloba (Mohbad’s younger brother), Mrs. Abosede Olumuyi (Mohbad’s mother), Cynthia Omowunmi Aloba (Mohbad’s wife), Iya Lolade, Samuel (Mr. Joseph Aloba’s witnesses), and legal representatives from both parties.

The family’s legal team had earlier petitioned the police, alleging that Boluwatife Adeyemo, Mohbad’s assistant, had conducted the illegal embalming in violation of the Coroner’s System Law, 2007. This violation pertains to tampering with a deceased body.

Following Darosha’s interrogation, the police summoned all individuals mentioned in his statement for further questioning.

Shortly after Mohbad’s death, his cousin, Darosha, shared on his social media handle, daroshagram, details about the embalming process he conducted. This disclosure sparked controversy in social media and legal circles, prompting the need to identify the individual responsible for the embalming, disregarding existing laws.

The legal team awaits the police report and subsequent legal advice from their department. Only then will they be informed about recommended individuals to face prosecution.

Mohbad’s father alleged that his son’s body was already embalmed and placed by the staircase when he arrived at the deceased’s home on the day of his death. He urged the police to intensify the investigation to uncover the cause of his son’s demise.

Mohbad passed away on September 12 at the age of 27, leading to controversy surrounding the circumstances of his death on social media.

A former signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, Mohbad left the label in February 2022.

The Lagos State Police Command inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team on September 18, 2023, to probe Mohbad’s death. This incident also led to the arrest of Naira Marley and controversial Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, aka Sam Larry, among others.

Mohbad’s body was exhumed on September 21st, 2023, for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
