Togo: Swearing-in ceremony of the new president of HAPLUCIA

After his appointment on January 24 by the Togolese Head of State, the new president of the High Authority for the Prevention and Fight against Corruption and Related Offences (HAPLUCIA), Aba Kimelabalo, was sworn in on Thursday in Lomé, in front of the judges of the Supreme Court.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Human Rights, Christian Trimua, and the Ombudsman of the Republic, Mrs. Awa Nana Daboya.

Through this high institution, Togo aims to promote and strengthen the prevention and fight against corruption in public administrations and institutions as well as non-state bodies.

The new president swore before the president of the Supreme Court that he would carry out his duties with respect for the Constitution and the institutions of Togo “with probity, neutrality and integrity; to prevent and fight relentlessly against corruption and related offences and to keep the deliberations secret even after the expiry of my mandate.

The new president told the press that this function gives him the responsibility to accomplish missions of prevention and fight against corruption while intensifying actions of sensitisation, information and training towards the population so that it can understand the damaging consequences of corruption.
