Nigerian President Sets Up Transition Council As Tenure Ends

The statement of the media office of the Secretary of the Government of the Nigerian Federation revealed that Muhammad Buhari issued directives to open the Presidential Transitional Council.

This decision came before the end of Buhari’s term as President of Nigeria, on May 29 of this year.

The transitional council will open on Tuesday 14 February, with the Secretary to the Union Government.

The statement stated that members from the Ministries of Defense, Finance, Information, Culture, Interior, National Planning, Budget, and Foreign Affairs will be permanent secretaries.

The statement added that among the members of the council will be the Federal Ministry of Justice, the attorney general of the union, and the permanent secretary and head of the civil service of the union, while the secretary of the federal government will be president.
