Rwandan economy to shrink slightly in 2023

Rwandan Finance Minister Uzziel Ndagijimana has presented economic growth statistics to parliament.

Uzziel said that economic growth in Rwanda will fall from 6.8 to 6.2% between 2002 and 2023. This is a slight regression.

Uzziel Ndagijimana explained this regression by the increase in state expenditure in the fiscal year 2022/2023.

Rwandan Finance Minister is optimistic about the year 2024, which is estimated to rebound, recording a growth of 7.5% in 2024 and 2025.

The Rwandan economy has averaged 7.2% over the last decade, according to the World Bank, and GDP per capita has grown by 5%.
