Malian-French actor Adama Niane has passed away at the age of 56.

The death was announced by director Olivier Abbou on Sunday, on his personal Instagram account.

According to Nyan’s agent, the cause of death is currently unknown.

Adama Niane was born in Paris, and studied dramatic arts then started his career in the theater in the 1980s.

Niane landed small roles in television series (Commissaire Moulin, Julie Lescaut) and in the cinema (Baise-moi, de Virginie Despentes and Coralie Trinh Thi), before a recurring role in ‘’Plus belle la vie’’, where he played Sébastien Sangha in 2009.

His latest appearances have been in successful series: Maroni, Lupine, and the Netflix box office.
