Ghana’s Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has called on Africa, while addressing the opening ceremony of a high-level policy dialogue on building prosperity in Africa in Accra, to increase its production capacity to fight poverty.

Mahamudu Bawumia explained that to achieve this goal, Africa can take advantage of the opportunities offered by the African Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA) initiative to increase its industrialization and manufacturing capacity.

Bawumia also said there is a strong need to invest in intelligent infrastructure on the continent to produce, trade and trade out of poverty and underdevelopment.

He also stressed that despite the positive investments made in recent decades, it is essential to mobilize additional resources to fund physical and digital infrastructure. This will enable job creation and consequently poverty reduction.
