The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez, stressed on Tuesday, during a debate in the Congress of Deputies, the excellence of relations between Spain and Morocco, adding that Morocco is a strategic partner with which Spain has an interest in maintaining good relations.

Sanchez said it is in the interest of Spain and the European Union to maintain good relations with Morocco, adding that the upcoming Moroccan-Spanish High-Level Meeting will give a new boost to bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Morocco is important as a trading partner as trade between the two countries has increased by 33% in the last year. Moreover, Morocco is an essential partner in the management of migratory flows, as the arrival of irregular migrants has decreased considerably.

It should be noted that since the adoption of the roadmap last April, due to Sanchez’s visit to Morocco, the two countries have committed themselves to deal with issues of common interest in a spirit of trust and compromise.
