The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended six senior officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) regarding an alleged N6 billion fraud.

Currently undergoing interrogation at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, the senior NSCDC officers were handed over to EFCC investigators on Monday on the directive of NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Audi.

Although specifics of the investigation remain limited, sources familiar with the matter but unauthorized to speak publicly disclosed that EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had previously written to the NSCDC CG, requesting the officers’ release for questioning.

According to reliable sources, “Six senior NSCDC officers are presently in our custody. They’re undergoing interrogation by our investigators over alleged fraudulent activities amounting to over N6 billion”.

Another source affirmed, “The EFCC did not detain the NSCDC CG, nor is he under investigation. We have only detained six senior NSCDC officers, probing them for alleged N6 billion fraud”.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale could not be reached for comment on Monday as calls and messages to his phone went unanswered.

NSCDC spokesperson Babawale Afolabi, when contacted, stated, “I’m not aware of this,” in a brief WhatsApp message sent to our correspondent on Monday.
