Niamey: President Bazoum receives German Deputy Foreign Minister

The President of the Republic, Mohamed Bazoum, met yesterday with the German Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Katja Keul, in the presence of the Nigerien Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the German Ambassador to Niger.
Ms. Katja Keul said the purpose of her visit was to attend the conference on the Lake Chad Basin, adding that she was “very honored” to meet the President.

Regarding the situation in the Sahel, Ms. Katja Keul reiterated President Germany’s commitment to ensuring peace in the region, as Africa’s security concerns the world.

During the talks, the two parties discussed security and demographic issues and the situation of women in Niger.

On the situation of women in the country, the president presented an impressive project that allows girls to attend school longer in order to combat early marriage.
